Backup your Computers!!!
This is something I NEVER thought would happen to me, and we still have no idea how it happened. We lost ALL our pictures on our computer, clear back from 2005 when we bought a digital camera. Now.....with that said, LUCKILY my husband had just backed up our computer on an external harddrive on Nov. 18th. So we had almost everything on the back up, and only lost a few pictures from November and December. Luckily I had blogged about most of the stuff I am missing so atleast I have a few pictures on my blog. Anyways, we have no idea how this happened, and Kent has done everything to try and find them. My kids play on the computer and could have deleted them, or maybe I hit a wrong button and didn't know it, but they are LONG GONE and no where to be found. I would encourage you ALL to back up your computer somehow....someway. I would have been devastated if Kent hadn't done this.

Amen!! When we first bought our digital camera the same thing happend to me. I Lost all of J's baby picturs. I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. Luckily being the first time mom that I was- I had printed most of the 9,000 pictures that I took. I still don't have any digital pictures of him..not ready to scan for hours yet.
Now, I transfer everything to an external HD too. I also transfer our files and home videos to CD's and put them in a firesafe box in the garage... I know I have a problem!!
So glad you didn't loose everything- I still get a little sad when I think about all the pictures I lost that weren't related to J. All of our first year of Marriage- GONE!
I would also encourage you to get them off the external hard drive. We bought an external hard drive for the exact reason of backing up our pictures in case our computer crashed. As it turned out our external hard drive crashed, and we lost all the pictures anyway. You can upload them on the internet on places like Picasa Web or photobucket, etc. But I've found the best thing to do is just to get them printed with a CD. Computers are just too risky!
yeah shell, my hard drive crashed with 7000 pictures on it. i didn't back it up.
