Sundays are Special

I want Sundays to be a special day, a day that feels different in our house. Some Sundays I feel like we do a good job, others not so good. We have had 1:00 church for 1 year and 9 months now and for 3 little girls (7 and under) who wake up at 7 a.m. that is a lot of time to kill before church starts. So today as I'm hearing them ask if they can watch TV or go ride bikes or have a dance party and I'm telling them "not on Sunday" over and over, I decided instead of focusing on all the things my kids can't do on Sunday, I wanted them to see all the things that they can do on Sunday. So I sat down with them and we made a list of things we can do on Sunday. Here is what is on our list.

ACTIVITIES OK FOR SUNDAY
*color or paint or draw
*play church or school or primary
*do crafts like melting beads, stamps etc....
*Play games on the friend website on computer
*read the friend or scriptures
*read or look at books
*watch church videos or home videos
*write letters or draw pictures for teachers or relatives
*play house, lincoln logs, magnets, bricks
*play games with family
*listen to soft church music
*look at scrapbooks
*go on a walk with family
*write in journal

My hope is that when they are bored they will go to this list and see that there are so many good and fun things we can do on Sunday, and that Sunday is a special day.

I read all the posts and loved them. Looks like you've had a great summer. I like the Sunday activities. To be honest, we've given in to a little TV on Sunday (only certain shows). Our church is at 11:30 so it overuns naptime and we can only handle so much grumpiness. I can't believe you've had 1pm for a year and a half. Yuck!

We do naps - all of us. It's so nice and quiet. Then AFV.
