We had our baby! He was born today, April 29th at 4:48 p.m. He weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce and was 18 1/2 inches long. Just a tiny little guy. His name is Carson Kent Eggett.
He came earlier then expected. My c-section was scheduled for May 9th, and I came in for my weekly ultrasound and non stress test this morning. His levels on the MCA Doppler ultrasound had sky rocketed to levels in the 90's. He has been consistently between 45-55 for the last couple of months, so they nearly doubled. This was a bit alarming, but still could have been a false positive. So the Dr. said to do a non-stress test. If he was happy with the results they would deliver Monday, May 2nd and if he wasn't happy they would deliver today. He wasn't real happy with the results. He called it a non reactive stress test, where baby just wasn't responding like they would like. So they walked me over to labor and delivery and immediately started iv's, monitoring etc.. Then they had to wait til 4:30 because I had eaten cereal that morning and they need to wait 8 hours if possible.
The c-section went well. Carson is so perfect and cute and tiny. From what we can tell he looks alot like Aubree, he doesn't have much hair, just some fuzz and it's not super dark, which is weird because all our girls had a head full of dark hair. He has one dimple in his left cheek, just like Aubree and Kendra. When they opened me up they found a cyst on my ovary that was the size of an egg. They had to remove the cyst and my ovary. That was kind of a shocker, but they said that these kinds of cysts are never cancerous. They will send it in to the lab just to double check.
Carson is in the NICU right now. He is breathing on his own and all his stats look great but he is anemic. They new right away because we was pretty pale and yellow. His Bili was at a 10.5 and they said 2 is normal. His Hematocrit was at a 33 and 40 is normal. Since those tests his bili is now at a 12, and Hematocrit is at a 29. He is under the photo therapy lights as well as hooked up to all kinds of monitoring stuff, and an iv to get fluids. They are currently doing an IVIG treatment which they are hoping will help the levels out, but if they get worse then we are looking at a blood transfusion. They are also talking about transferring him to Utah Valley Hospital. I'm really hoping he can stay here.
They won't let him eat right now, they are pumping sugar water into the iv. All of this has been a whirlwind and was so unexpected because he's been doing so well. Plus we weren't prepared for a baby today. We are happy he is here, and his lungs are developed. We just hope they can get these anemia issues taken care of soon.
Please say a prayer for little Carson. We will post pictures as soon as possible.
