June 2014 - Kendra turned 7 years old! She chose a Texas doughnut for her Birthday breakfast
Kendra is such a gem. For the most part, she is such an easy child. She's self motivated with her homework and chores so that she can play with friends. This girl is a rough and tough little girl. She spends her days outside riding bikes, scooters or her skateboard. She collects bugs and rocks and sticks and goes on hunts for anything and everything. She makes oodles of paper airplanes and jets and other crafty stuff. You will often find her and a friend outside exploring or playing some sort of cops and robbers game on their bikes. She is a super smart little girl and her schoolwork comes easy to her. She's becoming a great little reader.
She's such a sweet big sister to let Carson open her presents. She's also a really big tease to Carson. Seriously, she NEVER stops teasing him. It drives me bonkers.
All she wanted was a penny board for her birthday. She knew that they cost around $100 and that was her Birthday Budget. She stuck to her guns for over 6 months and never waivered on what she wanted. Luckily we got it on sale for $80 so she was able to get a couple other gifts.
This penny board has gotten good use so far and she is getting to be quite the awesome skateboarder.
We went out to lunch at Zupas and then to nickel mania for her Birthday. We ended the night at Kents parents house for a BBQ and outdoor movie with cousins.
Sweet Little Birthday Girl
I wanted to document her teeth. She sucked her thumb up until March 2014 when she was almost 7 years old. Her bone structure on her face began to change because it was pushing her upper jaw bone forward and she was starting to look like a Who on Whoville :) Her speech was getting worse and she constantly lived with her thumb in her mouth. It was definitely a cause for concern.
So we went to the orthodontist and they put an expander in her mouth. They put spikes on the expander to stop her from sucking her thumb. I thought it was going to be really emotional for her, but she never said a word about not being able to suck her thumb. She just never did it again. It was the easiest transition.
We didn't quite expand her mouth soon enough and there just wasn't enough room for her 2 front teeth to come in straight, so she looked like a bunny rabbit.
You can see the spikes behind her 2 front teeth.
She got her expander in March 2014, and they put braces on her teeth in June 2014 to pull those 2 front teeth down straight. We could have left them, but she would have looked like this until she was 12 (or old enough to get full braces) so we opted to do phase 1 of braces and pull those teeth down straight. Pictures to come later.
