3 Days Old
All Bright Eyed and Happy - Such a sweet little thing
Tummy Time, He's holding his own binky in.
Carson got the 2 catheter lines in his belly button taken out today. That was where they did the blood transfusion, as well as gave him fluids and drew blood each time they needed it. They are pretty sure that he will not need another transfusion so they took the lines out.
I don't think he will like being swaddled. It probably doesn't help that he will spend the 1st week of his life or so in just a diaper lying freely under lights. When the nurse tried to wrap him up, he tried really hard to get free :)
Today was a huge success. Yesterday his bili came down to 18.3 and by today at 2:00 it was already down to a 12.3. He's making huge strides. His hematocrit is stable at a 42 and they have taken 2 of the 6 bili lights off of him. They took out his catheter lines and they will slowly wean him from the other bili lights. As soon as his levels remain stable with no lights for a day or two, he can come home. Now he only has the iv in his hand, and just the monitors on him for vitals. He's handling everything like a little champ. He definitely continues to get more active as he becomes less and less anemic. They are feeding him every 3 hours and he just guzzles the milk down quickly. I nursed him today for the 2nd time and he latched on perfectly and ate for a good 20 minutes. I finally have milk to give him, so no more donor milk. That's the update for today, it was a good day! Tomorrow I go home. I am excited to be able to go see Carson more often, but I'm definitely nervous about life at home. Not sure I'm ready to tackle my kids yet.

It was so good to read that good report. What a fighter! And he is soooo cute! Can't wait to really meet him. Hope you are feeling good. We would love to have your girls over whenever we can. Keep in touch!
Thank you for the update. I have been thinking about you guys nonstop! Willow was just kissing the computer pictures of Carson. and said "So cute" ! Olivia said she can't wait to have Carson over to hold him....
Yeah - happy news!! Thanks for constantly updating us - you're so tough to do it while still in the hospital! Can't wait to meet him ... love to you all!
That's terrific! I'm so excited for you!!! Good luck with going home - I'm overwhelmed for you, when I think about it all. Recovering from a C-section, 3 kids and a newborn? I'm sure you will have many helping hands that will be there if you need them!
Wow I had no idea you were updating all this time. I'm so happy he is doing better. I can't imagine how hard it's been. My oldest had a few issue here and there and just having gone from me for an hour or two was excruciating. Your awesome. And he is GORGEOUS! I love that he has his own look even though he's a newborn. Usually they all look the same to me.
So happy to hear he is getting better every day. What a sweet little boy.
Oh Shelley! He is sooo cute! I wished I lived closer, I would come take your girls for ya. Hope you are feeling better each day!
Please let me know when I can take your girls or if you ever need a ride to the hospital.
