Today was a great day! My Dr. gave me permission to leave the hospital and go visit Carson at the hospital he is at. He said I could go for four hours. It was so fun to go see him. He is SOOOO sweet, and so good. They let me nurse him for the first time. That was the best! Carson latched right on and nursed for a good 20-30 minutes. There was no milk, but he was atleast latching great and pretty soon he will be drowning from all my milk I'm sure. They also started feeding him a bottle today. Since my milk hasn't come in yet, we opted to feed him pasteurized mothers milk from a donor. I was a little weirded out at first about the idea, but the NICU nurses and docs recommended that over formula, and I want to do what's best for him. So he gets a bottle every 3 hours. He drank 2 bottles while we were there and he pretty much guzzled them. As far as his levels go, his Bili is slowly coming down. Today it was at 18.3, which had come down from 20.5. They want to see it get below 15 and then stay below. His Hematocrit was at a 41 or 42 and staying pretty stable which is a good number. As of right now they do not think he will need another transfusion, but we are learning that things can change very quickly. Today the Neonatologist mentioned that he may come home in 5-7 days, but it's just hard to predict right now. That sounds SO long! I hope it's sooner then that. He is in such good hands, and we consider ourselves very lucky because Carson is the biggest baby in the NICU, there are so many tiny babies in there. Today he weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces. He is so so skinny and tiny. I don't quite know how to handle a baby so little, he seems so fragile, plus he has wires and things hooked up all over so that makes it hard. I'm used to chubby 8 pounders so this is a whole new experience. Below are a few pictures from today.
His cute name tag in the NICU
Isn't he so sweet? He actually looks kind of chubby here, he really isn't though. He is 48 hours old here.
Happy Mommy gets to see her baby
Nursing him for the first time. I was in Heaven and so was he. He kept looking up at me trying to figure out what was going on, I felt like he was saying "where have you been my whole life"
Typical just gone done nursing face, all squished and red
Then back to the lights he goes.
This is his little setup, he really doesn't mind at all, he gets so relaxed and just chills.

Oh Shelley, I am so happy for you guys! He is perfect and beautiful. Reading all about your past few days brought back a lot of memories for me with Tatum. I will certainly keep Carson and your family in my prayers for a speedy recovery! I love him!
